Synthetic Oils?

Just changed the oil in my bike. Decided to change to a synthetic oil.... this one:

Mobil 1 Racing 4T 10w40.

Had planned to run just a syn in it from the first change, but the stores 'round me always seemed to be out, so at 21,300 miles, it finally gets it syn oil.

Wonderin' what everybody else is running and what their thoughts are.

I tried synthetic oil on Storm a year ago. Now I'm no wrench, but my mechanic at the place where they actually assemble Storm (PMR) said that I should use syn oil because it causes the clutch to slide...he had me switch back to the factory recommended mineral oil.

I've heard that 'bout automotive oil, that it has "friction-reducing" additives that would cause clutch slippage, but hadn't heard that 'bout syn motorcycle oil. The dealer I bought my bike at told me that the factory recommended syn oil, and then offered to sell me 4 quarts of oil they pumped out of a large tank out back. Since I couldn't tell what it was they were selling me (no label on tank) I declined. As far as the factory recommending only syn....I've looked everywhere ('net, owners manual and service manual) and cannot find anywhere they recommend it.
I also wonder about any benefits, if any of using syn. Increased engine life? Maybe, but how much and is it worth the additional cost of syn oil. If I saved the cost difference between the two and just used mineral oil, I might just have a bit o' cash to apply to the down payment on my next bike....
